BIGFORK VALLEY NEWS RELEASE Buy-a-Meter Campaign receives Challenge MatchBigfork Valley has announced a challenge match to the Buy-a-Meter campaign for the Bigfork High School athletic complex. Each meter sold by the Bigfork Alumni Committee toward this goal by May 15 will be matched by Bigfork Valley, up to the 800 meter total. The athletic complex will be built to the east of the high school, and will include a four lane, 200 meter running track as well as regulation spaces for discus, shot put, and long and triple jump. An upgraded baseball diamond is included in the plans. The committee hopes to have the facility completed for use this summer. A total of $70,000 has already been raised through fund raising efforts over the past four years toward the approximately $200,000 needed. The outdoor athletic complex project was started to provide adequate and safe facilities for the track team, which had previously been training on streets and highways, and a poorly drained field. When complete, the facility will be open for community use when it is not in use by the school. "Bigfork Valley is very pleased to be able to support such a worthwhile project," said Dan Odegaard, CEO. "Improving infrastructure in our community makes it a better and safer place to live and work, and this athletic complex gives our community members another option to improve their health and fitness." Each meter is being sold for $50, payable to the Bigfork Alumni Association at P.O. Box 228, Bigfork, MN 56628.
