New recreational opportunity this fall
There will be a brand-new recreational road race in our area this fall.
The 1st Annual Bigfork Valley Challenge will take place September 9th, and will include a 4.5 mile run or 3 mile walk. Everyone is welcome. The race, sponsored by Bigfork Valley Hospital, is aimed at encouraging health, fitness, and getting individuals and families outside. It will take place on a winding forest road in the Chippewa National Forest.
The races will begin at 9:00 am, but registration and packet pick-up will begin at 7:30 am in Bigfork. Shuttles will leave from there to head to the start line at Jingo Lake Road, which is approximately 4 miles south of Bigfork on Highway 38. After the race, refreshments, and finish line activities, shuttles will take participants back to Bigfork to their vehicles.
Registration is only $10 per individual or $30 per family if registered before September 1st. After September 1st up until the day of the race, registration is $13 per individual and $35 per family. Early registration is recommended to guarantee a long-sleeve t-shirt and race medal which will be given to all participants.
Volunteers are needed to help the race run smoothly. If you or your organization are interested in helping out with the race, please contact Race Director Stephanie Martin at (218) 246-8765.
The race website can be found at www.bigforkvalley.org/race.html. A printable registration form, as well as training schedules and other good information, can be found there also.
