CEO's Notes: The Grass is Greener in Bigfork
A common cliché that's quoted often goes like this - "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." If you've ever seen a cow stretch its neck through a fence to get the grass on the other side, you know what I'm talking about.
So it goes with people and their perceptions. It seems like we're always looking for better opportunities because what we have just doesn't seem to be as good as what someone else has. Whether it's where we live, what we do for a living, what kind of car we drive or in more general terms our "lot in life," we are always looking to improve it.
When I came to Bigfork three years ago my lot in life changed dramatically. I grew up in a small town about 180 miles west of here and didn't know what many other people already knew about Itasca County and northeastern Minnesota - the grass is very green.
Ever since moving to Itasca County and working in Bigfork I've had the feeling of being on vacation. It's no wonder to me why the "snow birds" keep coming back to join all the other people that flock to this area especially in the spring and summer - the grass is greener.
I've been telling our leadership team for the last three years that there's no need in looking around for another job because they aren't going to find greener grass anywhere else. They might find more money, but it will be hard to beat the quality of life and the great company that they work for.
With all the construction, remodeling and new services being added at Bigfork Valley the grass keeps getting greener. In my opinion, Bigfork Valley is a great place to work and the quality of the healthcare services is second to none.
Welcome back snow birds!
