New name for medical clinic Scenic River Health Services
For twenty years the Northland Medical Clinic at Bigfork has been part of Cook Area Health Services. Doctors from the Northland Medical Clinic staff Bigfork Valley Hospital and also provide services in Northome and Big Falls.
Other community clinics in the same group are known as Four Rivers Community Health Center in Floodwood and Cook Area Health Services in Cook.
Now all of these medical clinics will share the same name: Scenic Rivers Health Services. The name officially changed on June 1, but the clinics and services remain the same. For instance, the clinics will still offer the Sliding Fee Scale discount program for eligible patients, made possible in part by a grant from the Bureau of Primary Health Care.
Cook Area Health Services started providing medical care to northern communities on May 31, 1979. In 1984 the Northland Medical Clinic in Bigfork came under its banner and in 1992 the Northome clinic was added. Medical and dental services were offered by Cook Area Health Services in Floodwood beginning at the end of 2001.
“We are proud of our tradition of service excellence in rural Minnesota,” said CEO Mike Holmes. “We look forward to continue providing excellent primary care for you and your loved ones. We are grateful for your faith in us.”
