Director of Nursing - Long Term Care

Summary of Job Description: Manages employees with direct patient care in Bigfork Valley Communities, ensuring that policies and procedures are followed and revised as necessary, providing training opportunities, resolving issues and making sure that established standards of resident care are met. Ensure department’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Assumes additional duties in the absence of the nursing home administrator. Has a good understanding of the financial aspects of a nursing home. Exhibits good clinical and interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully lead nursing staff in providing excellent patient care.

Qualifications: Four year college or university program certificate preferred. Two to four years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered to practice nursing in Minnesota. Must be able to participate in continuing education to maintain licensure and to further develop professional skills as required.

Activities Aide

Seeking a full time activities aide for our long term care facility.

Summary of Job Description: Helps to create an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive daily life in accordance with the Eden Alternative philosophy through activities for nursing home elders. Assists with planning, transportation and set up of activities. Good interpersonal skills, especially with elders, exhibiting respect, understanding of elders’ issues and level of functioning. Able to work independently and cooperatively within the facility’s policies and procedures. Takes direction from nursing staff in creating a safe environment.

Qualifications: Activities Assistant certification through the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals required, or willing to complete certification. Bus driver training certificate required. CNA certification required, or willing to complete training. Activities experience in a skilled-care nursing home environment preferred, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or GED preferred.


Seeking individuals for full time and casual Certified Nursing Assistant positions in our long term care facility.

Summary of Job Description: Cares for elders following the Eden Alternative® and Bigfork Valley philosophies with skill, compassion and respect. Provides social, physical and medical care that enables elders to live their lives to the fullest. Supports elders in self-care and provides care as necessary for those unable to care for themselves. Supports the elder’s physical and social household environment, following the elder’s preferences. Maintains appropriate documentation and notifies nursing staff/manager of changing needs and conditions of elders. Provides restorative therapy under the leadership of therapy professionals. Follows proper infection control, sanitation and safety practices. Has good interpersonal skills, is able to deal with unexpected events, is consistently at work and on time.

Qualifications: CNA certificate or class enrollment required. Must meet all federal and state regulatory requirements to maintain certification and active registry as CNA, including 12 CEUs per year and participation in mandatory in-service and any departmental education. High school diploma or GED preferred.

Seeking part time and casual Cooks to work in the Dietary Department.

Summary of Job Description: Prepares large quantities of food for patients, residents, employees and visitors using various appliances and following governmental regulations in meal preparation. Prepares individual meals for patients with diet plans. Washes and cleans appliances and cooking areas. Meets schedules. May order, receive and store supplies. Maintains security. Exhibits a professional courteous manner and follows instructions.

Qualifications: High school or GED required, six months experience with hospital therapeutic diets required within last three years. Certified Nursing Assistant certification preferred.

Pharmacy Technician

Seeking part time Certified Pharmacy Technician for the hospital pharmacy.

Summary of Job Description: Reports to the retail pharmacist. Assists the pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications by performing computer entry of prescription data and other tasks as assigned. Has good interpersonal skills and is able to provide excellent customer service. Is prompt, accurate and prioritizes well. Observes safety and security procedures.

Qualifications: Holds PharmD diploma. Licensed with MN Board of Pharmacy. Two to four years retail or equivalent clinical practice experience preferred.

Radiologic Technologist

Part time position.

Summary of Job Description: Knowledgeable about Xray, CT, EKG and other stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment and positioning techniques. Interacts with patients, exhibiting good interpersonal skills including an ability to reduce anxiety and explain diagnostic procedures. Schedules appointments. Practices radiation safety for staff and patient. May be scheduled to respond to emergency call-ins evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications: Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Six months experience/training or additional education preferred. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).

Referral Representative

Full time position.

Summary of Job Description: Verifies and process incoming and outgoing referrals and prior authorizations. Pre-registers patients for services as needed. Resolves issues between patients, providers, and health plans. Prepares necessary reports. Works within HIPAA privacy guidelines. Exhibits good interpersonal skills and positive attitude, treats others with respect. May provide coverage in admissions, window cashier service and main telephone. Maintains mailroom.

Qualifications: One or two years of college or technical school, and at least six to twelve months related experience. Certified Patient Account Technician (CPAT) or Certified Patient Account Manager (CPAM) preferred. Computer literate.
