BIGFORK VALLEY CHALLENGE RACES
SATURDAY, SEPT. 10

The sixth annual Bigfork Valley Challenge will be held Saturday morning, Sept. 10 with half marathon and 10k races and a 5k walk/run. This year the races will feature new routes on the scenic roads surrounding Bigfork.

Registration will start at 7 a.m. in the Bigfork School Commons, two blocks east of Main Street (note new location). Races will start and end on the Bigfork School track just east of the school with an 8 a.m. start for the half marathon, 8:30 a.m. start for the 10k and 9 a.m. start for the 5k walk/run. A lunch, including the traditional ice cream cone, is included in the registration fee and will be available for purchase by spectators after the race. The awards ceremony will be held about 11 a.m. at the football field bleachers.

Preregistration is available online through Sept. 2, or until Sept. 8 by form available at the volunteer's desk in the Bigfork Valley Hospital lobby. Participants may also register on race day.

For more information, visit the race page. Weather related announcements will be posted on the home page.

New routes

New routes were selected by the race committee to address wait time and crowding at the finish line. The half marathon will follow Highway 38 south to Farm Camp Road, east on Farm Camp and north on Scenic Highway 7 to finish on the high school track.

The race committee was able to standardize the 4.5 mile race and 3 mile walk/run to a 10k and 5k with new routing; those events will travel north through Bigfork, across the trestle bridge and onto River Road, returning along the same route to finish on the high school track. Those routes will include two river crossings each way, as well as scenic trails and rural roads.

Spectators welcome

Preregistrations include racers from around the state and several adjacent states. Spectators are welcome along the route and at the finish line to cheer racers. Join us for lunch and to recognize these talented athletes. The first racers are expected to cross the finish line about 9:30 a.m.
