Sara Metzer joins Bigfork Valley Pharmacy

Bigfork Valley welcomes Sara Lorenz Metzer, Pharm D to its pharmacy in Bigfork. Metzer will have responsibilities with both the hospital and retail pharmacy and will work with the pharmacy's Medication Therapy Management program.

Metzer comes to Bigfork Valley from the doctor of pharmacy program at the University of Minnesota, Duluth campus. She holds a bachelor degree in biochemistry from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.

With a special interest in rural practice, Sara wrote her thesis on the survival of rural pharmacies in Minnesota. In coming to Bigfork Valley, she was able to not only follow this interest, but also experience a variety of responsibilities in a busy pharmacy.

"I really have a passion to give back to rural pharmacies," she said. "I'm happy to come back to my roots in north central Minnesota, and I'm looking forward to working with patients here to optimize their medications in our Medication Therapy Management program."
