About Bigfork Valley Chiropractic Clinic:
Bigfork Valley Chiropractic Clinic was established in 2011 as the need for chiropractic services at Bigfork Valley grew. In this setting, Dr. Mike Olson is able to work with many other health professionals to ensure that the most appropriate care be delivered to the patient.
Bigfork Valley Chiropractic Clinic looks at the body as a whole. "Chiropractic is not just pain management," Dr. Olson points out, "it is about improving the overall function of your entire body."
For instance, often a vertebral misalignment is treated without looking at why that misalignment may be there. To resolve issues, Dr. Olson offers many other types of treatment besides a chiropractic adjustment. Your chiropractic adjustment is often the most crucial aspect, but Dr. Olson will also look at other neuro-musculo-skeletal signs that are causing you problems. He can then treat you using a variety of methods, including the Graston Technique, myofascial release, nerve flossing, flexion distraction and more to help you recover even faster and prevent you from frequent and unnecessary visits.
Bigfork Valley Chiropractic Clinics also focuses on preventative care. A preventative chiropractic treatment assesses your spine for areas of segmental dysfunction or segmental fixation. By applying an adjustment to this area, Dr. Olson can create normal motion in your spine before pain, muscle tightness and other symptoms set in.
Many people often visit dentists once or twice a year for dental check-ups and cleaning to help prevent cavities. Interestingly, most of the nerves that control the function of your mouth, teeth and gums come from your spinal cord through your upper cervical vertebrae. Just like a dental checkup, Dr. Olson points out that regular chiropractic visits can help keep many parts of your body including your mouth healthy.
What to Expect:
Your health is a serious issue to us, which is why we want to make your first chiropractic experience with us an enjoyable and productive visit. We ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes early in order to fill out the necessary paperwork and become accustomed to our environment.
Next, Dr. Olson will perform an initial examination. This will allow him to pinpoint the actual cause of your problem. An initial exam will consist of your chief complaint, vitals, orthopaedic and neurological tests, and some functional tests. After the initial exam, x-rays may or may not be ordered, depending on the examination findings. Dr. Olson will then decide if he will deliver care that day or schedule a future appointment to analyze your case more thoroughly to ensure proper treatment. Next, you can expect a thorough report of findings in which Dr. Olson will discuss your case in depth with you and recommend a treatment plan that will accomplish your goals. Dr. Olson's treatment consists of the following:
- Spinal Adjustments according to the Palmer Package and Motion Palpation
- Graston Technique
- Myofascial release
- Axial Distraction
- Core Stabilization
- Wellness consultations
- Home exercise programs
